Mass Die-Offs Around The World

When the Fukushima nuclear plant of Japan was crippled in March 2011 following a 9.0M earthquake centered off of Honshu, the media has done very well in generating concern amongst the international communities about radioactive contamination. This same concern has prompted ideas of mass radiation contaminating the entire Pacific Ocean as if the material was floating on the surface of the ocean among the debris and traveling with the currents around the planet. The most recent case are the melting starfish off the West Coast of Canada. Through a brief analysis of fundamental chemistry knowledge, one might easily see how this can be blown out of proportion (not a pun).

The most dangerous radioactive elements at Fukushima are iodine-131 and cesium-137. In any natural environment anywhere in the world at any one given time we have 5 naturally-occuring elements; oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, helium, and hydrogen. The atomic mass for oxygen, 16; nitrogen, 14; carbon, 12; helium, 2; hydrogen, 1. As we can see, both iodine and cesium claim higher atomic masses several multiples greater than all of the naturally-occurring elements, combined. This means that the radioactive elements are much heavier than any other elements in the surrounding area.

What does this mean for us? This means that unless a 10-mile high mushroom cloud foisted iodine and cesium elements upward into the atmosphere by way of an atomic explosion, these elements are still contained in core containers at Fukushima. For that fact that we can conclude beyond a reasonable doubt that a 10-mile high mushroom cloud never took place at Fukushima, the explosion that did take place was significantly smaller than an atomic explosion and was caused by other pressures at the plant. This is not to say that no radioactive materials ever "leaked" into the nearby sea. If indeed they have they will have sunk to the ground floor.

What is making all of this wildlife die-off in masses then if Fukushima is not a significant part of the problem? Does anybody remember John P. Wheeler? He was a member of the Reagan, Bush Sr., and Bush Jr. administrations where he is credited with writing the manual on the effectiveness of biological and chemical weapons. Immediately prior to his demise, he was rumored to have threatened the Pentagon with publicity if they deployed these weapons into the civilian environment. Mr. Wheeler was murdered on or about the 1 January 2011, just before the mass die-off of fish and birds in the same month and of which continues periodically, particularly in and around the United States.

(Remember that a signature of radiation poisoning is that it mutates cellular bodies (cancer) while biological and chemical weapons work to specifically break cellular bodies down and destroy them.)
