Holder's Chief of Staff Resigns Over Report

The Fast and Furious "sting operation" was set up into full operation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) over a 5-year period until 2011. The purpose of it was to allow gun vendors close to the borders sell to illegals in order to track them to Mexican trafficking cartels on the other side of the border. It was not until the murder of U.S. Federal agent and Border Patrolman, Brian Terry, that this quickly shot into the media spotlight of what U.S. government agencies and officials knew what and when.

U.S. Department of Justice (DoJ) Attorney General, Eric Holder, came under scrutiny of congressional investigation when Holder initially made a sworn testimony claiming knowledge only since the beginning of 2011 and where the documents released to Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, Darrel Issa, contradicted these very claims. Although many high-profile government officials and celebrities encouraged the idea that Holder resign over this botched operation, President Obama sided with him and asserted executive privilege on his behalf. In other words, they know they royally screwed up, but they are still in-charge.

Holder's Chief of Staff, Gary Grindler, has now decided to resign after the Senate released a detained report of his involvement in the operation. Issa has commented that this resignation is long overdue and perhaps more leadership might consider taking responsibility in the future and following Grindler's decision.
